Family First for me
As most of you know I was hoping to return to work this Fall teaching in CT. The transition from NYC to CT certification didn't go over so smoothly and I am in need of taking a language course and some testing. So I will be home for the next year with Rylan while doing those things. I think it was a blessing in disguise because coming home from an interview I had for a DREAM JOB..I wasn't praying to get it...instead I simply prayed for an answer of "do I stay or do I go"---at home mom vs. working one. The grass is always greener, and both sides have there plus and minus...but I know I am lucky to be able to have that this time with Rylan and possibly to have another one! I decided that I am going to still get certified and if next year I want to go back to the working world great...and if not...great too. I will feel complete either way. I know some people think it is a waste of schooling for me to be home with my child...but I see it as a blessing and an investment in my childs growth. I am sure I will be teaching again....I MISS it ALL the time. It was and is a new career for me that I plan to pursue.....but for now I am taking time and smelling the roses with my family. And for me...no degree can compete with that!
Less of a baby more of a toddler
It is hard to believe that our baby boy is 11 months! It seemed like just the other day I was worrying over his reflux issues, and trying to get a coo or a smile. Now he smiles all the time, you can't shut him up, he is eating everything we eat, and he is person of his own kind. Recently during our trip to Bermuda I was complaining to my friend Kim that he isn't holding his bottle. Wouldn't you know two days later I left him with my mother inlaw and her friend and when I came back they said "Rylan held his own bottle the entire time AND he KNEW what he was doing". That little bugger....he knows that Mommy and Daddy would do it for him, so he kept pretending he didn't know how! When the light of the camera flashes on he automatically smiles. His Grandpa has taught him to put his hand on his mouth and sing like a little indian. When I am eating or drinking, you better beware that he is coming after it. His favorite foods are bread, strawberries, chicken nuggets, and pancakes. He still in not crawling...but after the bottle episode I am convinced he is doing it secretly behind Mommy and Daddy's back! LOL He wants to walk so bad! Both of our backs are killing us from doing the hold hands and walking bit! He is also physically chainging. He is growing baby curls which I LOVE and is starting to look like a toddler. It is amazing how you think for the first three months the sleepless nights and the crying baby will never end...then suddenly you are at the brink of their first birthday thinking...man where has the time gone?
We can not imagine our lives without him, nor can we remember a time happier then we are now as parents. He makes life worth living everyday to it's fullest!
